  3. why my device cant be connected in fastboot mode?

    • Hi.

If you can’t connect your device in fastboot mode via flashtool software, then manually connect it by pressing and holding the “volume up” button while connecting it to the PC. You can see a blue light on the device, for confirming that the device is connected in fastboot mode.

      Thanks.

  4. only flash tool file is downloaded, but the kernel is not downloaded to copy

    • Hi Marsya.

This is a normal procedure. There is no need to worry on this procedure. The device will not turn on while flashing(Only blue light will glow). So, continue with your flashing procedure.

If you are still having any issue on flashing, feel free to ask here.

      Thanks.

      Hope this helps.

  10. Hi Akhil,
After flashing only Pav rom (4 icons) appearing, what to do next?

  11. Hi Akhil,

Am trying to install KitKat on my ST18i, using your blogs. Have unlocked bootloader and rooted using the tools you have described.

Now while trying to ‘Reboot into fastboot mode (via ADB) using Flashtool, am getting an error ‘This action needs a connected device in ADB mode’. I have already connected the ST18i via USB, while it is powered ON, with USB debugging enabled. And while I check the connection through a CMD window command ‘adb devices’ the phone is shown in ‘listed of devices attached’ as CB511USBPM.

Can you suggest how this error can be overcome.

    Thanks in advance.

    • Hi Akhil,

I have overcome this problem by flashing the kernel in Fastboot mode through the command prompt instead of the flash tool, after copying the boot.img file to the sdk-tools page where the fastboot.exe program is located.

Then I’ve used Flashtool to reboot system using kernel, saw the phone starting to boot, removed it and rebooted into recovery. Once in recovery your instructions worked buttery smooth, and PAC ROM is successfully installed.

Now I need to give the 15 minute settling time for the ROM, and then start. Fingers crossed !!

      Thanks for your blogs.

    • Hi Ram.

This is a minor driver issue. To resolve this, just manually connect your device in fastboot mode: Just do the below steps.

      1. Switch off your device.

      2. Connect usb to your phone.

      3. Connect the other end of USB to the PC by pressing and holding the “volume up” (A blue light will display).

      4. After detecting your device, you can release your finger.

Then try to finish your flashing!

      Hope this helps.

      Thanks.

  12. you need to have open bootloader?
    thanks and regards.

    • Hello Graspy.

Sorry for the delay. Looks like your PC doesn’t have needed drivers for rooting your xperia ray smartphone. Kindly follow the below steps to install flashtool drivers.

      1. Go to C:\Flashtool\drivers, and install that setup file (Flashtool-drivers.exe) by choosing xperia ray device from the list.

      2. Restart your PC.

      3. Try again the rooting process.

Try these steps and update me.

      Thanks.

  17. sir after i fastboot img it was succesfull then i turn it on the cm11 logo shows after that it turns black screen what to do? the img file is with the rom thanks

    • Hi.

This means, your kernel is successfully flashed and you have some issue in the ROM files. Do this,

      1. Unzip the ROM files and remove the .img file and zip the files again.

      2. Then copy the .zip file to the SD card

      3. Install it.

This will re-install the ROM files.

Please wait minimum 15min to settle down the ROM.

      Then, turn-on your device.

      I hope this helps.

      Thanks.
